Come out of the closet: What do we have to lose?

Come out of the closet: What do we have to lose?

Years ago, people were ashamed of certain lifestyles. Now, sin is celebrated and people are bold and proud about their rebellion against God. Everyone is out of the closet, except for Christians. We have become so politically correct, that we're biblically incorrect. We walk around on egg shells afraid to say God's word because we don't want to be offensive. This is a charge for all Christians to come out of the closet, be bold, unashamed and go hard for Christ.  What do we have to lose for going all out for Christ, for giving our all, for being bold, unashamed and proclaiming the glorious gospel of Jesus Christ?

Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believes.

Are we really unashamed of the gospel? Do people at your job or school even know that you're a Christian?  Have you shared the gospel with your family? Are you witnessing to strangers that you encounter? Do you read your bible in front of others? It's very disheartening that many professing Christians will flood your timeline talking about their children, sorority/fraternity, business, sports, tv shows, and other news but will never share the gospel. This is a fact, you may go to church, profess to be a Christian, and live a moral life but if you're ashamed of Jesus Christ and His words among the world He in return will be ashamed of YOU. Luke 9:26 For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words, the Son of Man will be ashamed of him when He comes in His glory, and the glory of the Father and of the holy angels. If we're holding back and care more about our reputation, what others think about us and refuse to say God's word, ultimately we're ashamed of Him. We might not say it verbally, but we are showing Him that we care more about human approval than God's glory. Our silence is approval. Do you stray away from controversial topics? Are you scared to tell others your stance on homosexuality, abortion, or pre-martial sex?

 I think the reason why many believers will not go hard for Christ is because we don't want to be an outcast, persecuted, talked about, and looked at as a religious zealot. We care more about what man thinks, than what God thinks. We think it's only Pastors and ministers job to proclaim the gospel and leave the dirty work to others. It's not enough for us to throw around God's name and try to sound positive and be a motivational speaker. We cannot ignore parts of God's Word because they are unpopular or cause division. Our commission is to proclaim Christ and all He stands for. In these last days we must ask God for a spiritual boldness. If we can't even proclaim the gospel while it's legal, then what are we going to do when it becomes illegal in America to preach the gospel? Christians overseas are losing their life for the faith and it won't be long before it comes to America. It should convict us all that little children are being killed because they won't denounce their faith, and over here we won't even risk being liked for our faith.

"If you're ashamed of the Lord Jesus Christ then it's possible that you don't know Him. If you're afraid to speak to your friends and relatives about the value and virtue of His blood that flowed at Calvary then you don't really love them. How could any true child of God; indwelt with the Holy Spirit; saved from the flames of torment in Hell; and with the love of God in their heart  be ASHAMED of speaking of the One who delivered them from eternal wrath?"

I'd be lying if I said I'm always bold and don't worry about what others think about me. This year I faced one of the toughest challenges in my walk. I was led to go before my whole family at my grandmother's funeral and share the gospel  and warn them of hell. The whole week I dreaded it. All kind of negative thoughts consumed my mind and I was battling with the fear of man. I was literally shaking right before I went up and I had to depend on God. God strengthened me and I went up there and boldly proclaimed His word. Many of my family member's reactions shocked me. They were crying and seeds were definitely planted. I am weak, God is strong. He must increase, I must decrease. We must depend on God for boldness, not our own strength. It is natural for us to be afraid at times. The first step is admitting to God, that you are afraid to share His gospel. Pray to Him for boldness and ask Him for opportunities to share His gospel. As we grow in God, spend time in His word we become more bold and courageous in Him by the power of the Holy Spirit. No one wants to be hated by others and it will affect us at times when people call us names, but we must deny ourselves, pick up our cross, and frankly get over ourselves. It's not about us, it's about Christ.  2 Timothy 2:11 Here is a trustworthy saying: If we died with him, we will also live with him;if we endure, we will also reign with him. If we disown him, he will also disown us;

Revelation 21:8 But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars--they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death. I always wondered why the cowards were listed among those who will burn in the lake of fire. How can we expect to reign with Christ when we denied Him while on earth? The cowardly are those who reject God mainly because of human opinions. If a man chooses to reject God just to fit in or to avoid danger, this would qualify him as a coward. Knowing Christ is real, he chooses to reject the message of God anyway out of fear of rejection, persecution, or death. The cowardly, who recant under persecution make no profession of Christ and his Gospel…lest they should be exposed to tribulation or persecution.

It's time to come out of the closet! There is no reason to be fearful. Greater is He who is in us than he that is in the world. We have the Holy Spirit in us, man can't do nothing to us. You can't kill a true Christian, you only change our address. Matthew 10:28 And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell. Don't let people silence you. God is with us, if we are going to see souls saved we must be bold and unashamed. We must get out of our comfort zone. We must shun sin, speak out against the evil, and stand up for holiness and truth. We have nothing to lose but everything to gain! Can you imagine the day when we see our loving Savoir face to face. All of it will be worth it. Nothing else will matter but hearing, good job my faithful servant. Can you imagine all of the Saints of all the ages who have been maryted, shunned from their family,and lost everything they had for Christ together worshiping our King! What a glorious day that will be!  Matthew 19:29 And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or farms for My name's sake, will receive many times as much, and will inherit eternal life.
